Tech Note AN456: Using LC Oscillator Circuits with Philips Microcontrollers

There are two basic types of LC oscillators, Colpits and Hartley. The Colpits is is generally favored over the Hartley This is because of the simplicity of requiring only one inductor, which are generally more expensive and difficult to obtain than capacitors C2 and C1. Feedback is determined by the ratio of C2 and C1 (for our application, this is approximately 2:1)….
