The PDS900 is an affordable fully-featured in-circuit emulation and programming system supporting the entire Philips P89LPC900 family of high-performance microcontrollers.
It allows complete control and tracing of execution of a user's program and access to all registers and memory spaces of the target microcontroller, without consuming any device resources or introducing wait-states or other non-standard behaviour. It also allows programming of the Flash program memory and configuration options of production microcontroller devices.
Features include :
- transparent real-time in-circuit emulation with execution trace.
- fast USB interface to host PC - up-and-running in seconds!
- sophisticated Windows debugger supporting all popular compilers.
- 112k x 32 bits trace buffer with 12 digital input channels.
- programmable supply voltage and current limit, up to 250mA to target.
- multiple clock sources, programmable PLL-sythesised clock frequency.
- multiple breakpoint sources, unlimited execution address breakpoints.
- trigger output for synchronising external equipment with execution.
- completely 'soft' logic and firmware, free live updates via the web.
- includes footprint adapters for TSSOP20, TSSOP28, and PLCC28 packages.
- parallel-mode and ICP mode device programming for maximum flexibility.
- emulator supports calls to IAP code routines, and IAP-Lite commands.
- production programming support via 5-wire ICP.
NOTE: The PDS900 system is fully self-contained - a separate daughterboard is not required for emulation.
As the PDS900 is supplied standard with a full 16K of user emulation code memory. A PDS900 fitted with either the P89LPC935 or P89LPC936 bondout can emulate the extended memory of the P89LPC936 device. Therefore existing users who may have the P89LPC935 bondout do not need to upgrade to emulate the P89LPC936 device.
Note that limitations apply when using PDS900 to emulate some devices in the P89LPC900 family. See Why can't I get P1.2 into quasi I/O or push-pull output mode? for more information. Also, emulation of the P89LPC938 requires the P89LPC938 to be fitted, which is available as an optional extra.
If you require an emulation or programming solution for the P87LPC76x/77x family, please see the PDS76X emulation system or the P76XLCP programmer.
In order to help you with your purchase decision, we have included a comparison of PDS900 with tool offerings from other vendors.
Click here for a comprehensive selection guide showing which emulation and programming system and associated emulation and programming adaptors you will require for all of the LPC900 family devices.
