Development with the Philips P89LPC900 Family of high performance Flash-based microcontrollers is supported by the Philips/Acqura PDS900 Emulation and Programming System. Depending on the family member and package selected, the basic PDS900 system may be all that you need, but in some cases optional adaptors may additionally be required for emulation or programming. The following table is intended to be used a guide to determining what you will need for development using each member in the P89LPC900 family.
All of the devices in the family can be programmed with the PDS900 using ICP.
The basic PDS900 Emulation and Programming System is shipped with emulation footprint adaptors for TSSOP20, TSSOP28, and PLCC28 packages, and a programmer with a socket for low-volume programming of devices in PLCC28 packages. Adaptors for emulation and programming of devices in other packages must be ordered separately.
Early PDS900 systems were initially shipped with the P89LPC932 bondout fitted. As of February 2005, PDS900 systems are shipped with the P89LPC936 bondout fitted. Bondout upgrades for earlier PDS900 systems can be ordered from Acqura Systems.
Emulation of the P89LPC938 device is not possible with the 936 bondout. If you wish to emulate the 938 you will need to order a 938 bondout from Acqura Systems.
Emulation footprint adaptors for SMT-packaged devices have a consumable (soldered-down) portion, and one or more of these is initially supplied with the adaptor. Additional consumable soldered-down portions can be ordered in packs of five pieces if required.
* The consumable (solder-down) portion of the emulation footprint adaptor for the TSSOP14 and TSSOP16 packages is the 20-pin FPA900-TSSOP20 solder-down with six (or four) pins unused or removed.
Further information on the PDS900 Emulation and Programming System and it's accessories can be seen here. The full range of products can be ordered on-line from Acqura, and most products (excluding consumables and upgrades) can be ordered on-line from the Philips Microcontroller Development Tools website or through distribution from Philips or their franchised distributors.
